As we eagerly await season 7 of Doctor Who coming this autumn we can’t help but speculate what will happen this season. In the meantime we have plenty of other Doctor Who news to play around with. From the new companion to a comic book crossover there is plenty to discuss!
First up in the exciting news is the first promotional trailer for season 7. I am assuming when I say that the footage is most likely from the premiere episode of season 7, but I have also heard rumors from TG Daily that it is from the third episode. My favorite part of the trailer happens at the very end, with a Dalek’s eye poking out of the snow.

Pictures are now up from when the cast was shooting in Spain! Check them out!
Io9 also has an article about how much it would be to rent the Tardis for a year. Taking in all of the features of the Tardis they came up with a number of $23,930,385 or 15,140, 064 euros! They joke that with that much money James Bond could rent 76 Aston Martins. With a time share in all of the time and space that number seems maybe a bit on the low side, after all you’re getting a time machine, spaceship, crazy wardrobe, and hotel suite all in one!
According to ComBom.com there will be the standard 13 episodes for Season 7. They also mention that there will be no two part episodes, I am torn on that. I don’t necessarily love the two part episodes, although the “Silence in the Library” episodes happen to be two of my favorites, it will be different to not have any of them at all. It is also stated that The Doctor’s new companion will not be from Earth, this feels like it is going back to classic Doctor Who. The Doctor loves humans so much it will be interesting to see how this pans out. Lastly, Amy and Rory will live! I am really hoping that is the truth, I would hate to see anything bad happen to the cute couple.
Will Benedict Cumberbatch, best known as Sherlock in the hit BBC series Sherlock, play one of the most famous villians in the 50th anniversiary episode of Doctor Who? That’s the rumor going around right now! It would be amazing to see a crossover from the two brilliant shows. He would be playing The Master and boy would I love to see him portray that role! He has a pretty busy shooting schedule as of late, so hopefully he will find the time to bring life to The Master.
Are you a Whovian who also happens to be a Star Trek fan? If you are, you’re in luck as there is going to be a comic book crossover of the two! It is schedule to hit shelves in May and feature the Eleventh Doctor with Amy and Rory along with Captain Picard and crew. I for one can’t wait to check it out.
Lastly, the new companion has been named, Jenna-Louise Coleman. She is rumored to not be from Earth. Apparently the actress has told Steven Moffat that she doesn’t want to know anything about her character until she needs to. As of right now she doesn’t know her character’s name even, or how she meets The Doctor. As sad as I am to see Amy and Rory go, it will be interesting to shake things up with a new companion in the mix. The first promotional picture has been released finally, what do you think of her as the new companion?
That’s all I have for now Whovians! Keep checking this space for the latest Doctor Who news!
