****SPOILER ALERT****
Last season’s episode left us wanting more; as we were left with Allison stuck on the ship headed to Titan.  I finally had the chance to sit down and watch this season’s first two episodes, and let me tell you, the start of this season is  amazing. This blog contains massive SPOILER ALERTS, so do not read this until you’ve seen the episodes...

SyFy has made it clear that this will be the last season for Eureka, which I have issues with, but we will save it for another blog. It starts out with poor Allison waking up to the ship heading for a crash landing.  After reviving the crew and landing safely, they believe they have landed on Titan, but they’re in for the shock of their lives as they realize they have landed back home on Earth. It only gets stranger from here, as four years has already passed and everything in Eureka has changed.

Allison’s children have grown, Jo is back in the Sheriff’s office, Henry took Kim’s leaving hard, and Andy is head of Global Dynamics Security.  Fargo is no longer the head of GA as he was  replaced by  SARAH, the computer he created. Eureka spent a lot of time last year dealing with time travel and the new dimension they finally found themselves in. I was a little hesitant when I found out we were once again dealing with time travel, and to be honest, I can only take so many stories dealing with this topic. However, by the end of the show I was no longer worried. I’ve given you a ton of spoilers already, so I’m just going to tell you there are more surprises in store and some of them will shock you.

Since this is the last season of Eureka, I hope that they have time to tie up the loose ends including Beverly (which I still haven’t figured her out even after four seasons).  Also, Season 1 had that strange ball of light. What was that? We were lead to believe it was an alien, yet nothing since has been mentioned. As much as I loved this episode, I am disappointed that they did not make it into space. Last season they spent a lot of time preparing to fly to Titan. Now they’re back on Earth. Bummer.

My fear concerning the last season of Eureka is that we will be left hanging and never know what has happened to our favorite characters. I am also concerned that they will go too far to the extreme in trying to shock us, since they know this is their last season. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

I am sad that Eureka has not been given a fair chance and  more time.  Five seasons is not enough for this well-made show. SyFy has cancelled an intelligent science based show. We will be losing a great show. However, if this first episode is any indication, we should expect an exciting last season.  I look forward to the rest of the episodes.
